THE HEMP-IT GROUP

A COMMITTED COOPERATIVE SINCE 1964

Based in the heart of Anjou, the HEMP-it Group is much more than just an agricultural cooperative: it is an active player committed to the development of responsible, innovative industrial hemp.

We are an agricultural cooperative committed to developing a responsible, innovative industrial hemp sector. We select, produce and market industrial hemp seeds. The energy that drives us forward comes from our passionate team and the network of 180 propagators who bring this collective adventure to life. Over time, we have successfully identified and developed the best varieties of industrial hemp seeds while cultivating our unique, forward-looking expertise.

Our goal is to build sustainable agriculture based on strong values, trust, innovation and quality (thinking about tomorrow, daring to move forward…).

In December 2023, our Group was granted recognition as a “producer organisation”, which enables us to promote the technical and economic development interests of our producers at European level. We are the first and only cooperative in Europe to have gained this recognition in the hemp sector, allowing our Group to take its rightful place and act as a voice for our propagators in the hemp industry.

Innovation

VARIETAL INNOVATION AND CREATION IN INDUSTRIAL HEMP

A source of diversity and value creation, R&D is a strategic priority that is central to the cooperative’s development plans.

This is why HEMP-it invests over 15% of its revenue in hemp variety innovation. This investment has led to the creation of a new scientific unit: HEMP-it ADN.

Launched in 2019, HEMP-it ADN is a business unit dedicated to varietal innovation and creation on behalf of the HEMP-it cooperative and the French National Federation of Hemp Producers (FNPC).

Led by a dynamic and experienced team, the unit aims to create new varieties for tomorrow’s markets.

R&D

R&D: responding to the needs of producers, industry and consumers

Varietal innovation is a long and complex process that involves creating new hemp varieties from genetic resources selected for their complementary characteristics, and then selecting the best performers based on agronomic, technological and environmental criteria.

Responding to the needs expressed by producers, manufacturers and consumers, HEMP-it ADN’s engineers and technicians aim to increase genetic resources by creating new varieties of industrial hemp that are better suited to the needs of current and future markets.
